Meet Our Experts

The Healthy Menu Makeover Program encourages you to recognize that small changes, including making healthier food choices, can have a positive effect on diabetes management. Through the program, in collaboration with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), B. Smith will be visiting selected people to help turn their favorite recipes into a diabetes-friendly meal.

Lending their insight to the topic are George Grunberger, MD, and Samantha Heller, MS, RD, CDN, both of whom work closely with B. Smith to develop the Menu Makeover recipes as well as other delicious, diabetes-friendly recipes available on this Web site.

These experts, together with B., show you how small changes can add up to a BIG difference in diabetes management.

George Grunberger

Type 2 diabetes can be challenging for those living with the disease and for their loved ones. But, together with your doctor and a team of trained professionals, you can develop a successful diet, exercise, and treatment plan, that may lead to better blood sugar control.

George Grunberger, MD, is a clinical professor of Internal Medicine and Molecular Medicine & Genetics at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and chairman of the Grunberger Diabetes Institute.

Samantha Heller

Better nutrition and exercise can go a long way in helping to manage type 2 diabetes. Small, healthy changes—like switching from white to whole-wheat bread, eating more vegetables, or taking a walk every day—can make a big difference. And the benefits of a healthy lifestyle are tremendous.

Samantha Heller, MS, RD, CDN, is a clinical nutritionist, registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, and contributing editor to Health magazine.
